Instructor's Bio:
Growing up in Beaumont, Texas, Raymond Payne "Chip" Ambres III witnessed firsthand the disadvantages of youth with limited resources and access to professional coaching. After playing professional baseball for 11 years, he was determined to bridge the gap and to be a positive resource to assist youth in pursuing their personal endeavors.
Ambres has always been a leader, both on and off the field. As a senior at West Brook Senior High School in Beaumont, Texas, Ambres was named a second team All-American by Baseball America, a USA Today All-USA high school baseball team member, and was a highly recruited quarterback. Ambres signed a National Letter of Intent to play football at Texas A&M University, but opted for baseball after he was selected 27th overall by the Florida Marlins in the 1998 Major League Baseball draft.
Ambres had successful seasons as an outfielder, with the Boston Red Sox, Kansas City Royals, New York Mets and San Diego Padres.
When Chip moved to Houston, he vowed to create opportunities to support programs that aid and empower youth with the resources to set realistic goals both academically and physically and to achieve those goals.
Chip Ambres Youth Sports was created to leverage its resources to effectively cultivate and coordinate a measurable network of social services for youth. Ambres believes that shaping and motivating young leaders today will help us maintain a postive and prosperous community.
Ambres currently resides in Houston, Texas with his wife Brandi and his two daughters, Alexandria and Camille.
